Gönüllü Turizmine Kavramsal Bir Bakış(A Conceptual Overvıew Of Volunteer Tourism)

Abstract

Yeni bir alternatif turizm türü olan gönüllü turizmi, gönüllü hizmet temeline dayanmaktadır. Gönüllü turizminin odak noktasını, turistlerin bir destinasyonda turizm aktivitelerine katılmalarının yanı sıra, bölgenin ve bölgedeki yerel halkın kalkınmasını sağlayan faaliyetlere katılmaları oluşturmaktadır. Gönüllü turizmi, üst düzey gelire sahip turistlere hitap etmektedir. Bu çalışmada, gönüllü turizmi ile ilgili çalışmalara ve uygulama örneklerine dayanarak, kavramla ilgili mevcut durumun ortaya koyulması ve gençlik kuruluşları aracılığıyla nasıl geliştirilebileceğine ilişkin öneriler sunulması amaçlanmıştır. Bu gençlik kuruluşlarından bazıları uluslararası staj programları, kültürel değişim organizasyonları, çalışma kampı programları, teknik ve profesyonel yardım gruplarıdır. Çalışmada, ilgili kavramsal çalışmalar yanında, gönüllü turizmi faaliyetleri gerçekleştiren sivil toplum örgütlerinin ve gençlik kuruluşlarının internet siteleri de incelenmiştir. Sonuç olarak, gönüllü turizminin kavramsal olarak üzerinde çalışılan bir konu olduğu ancak yaygın bir uygulama alanı olmadığı görülmüştür. Gönüllü turizminin Türkiye’de geliştirilebilmesi için Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı’nın ve Yüksek Öğretim Kurumu’nun desteğinin alınması, yurtdışında yaşayan Türk vatandaşları ile işbirliği içinde olunması ve afet bölgelerinin gönüllü turizmi ile iyileştirilmesi gibi öneriler sunulmuştur

Abstract

Volunteer tourism, which is a new type of alternative tourism, is based on a volunteer service. The focus of volunteer tourism is not only attending to ordinary tourism activities but also attending to the volunteer activities which conducives to development of natives and regions. Volunteer tourism is for tourists with high income level. In this study, it has been aimed that to reveal the current situation of volunteer tourism and to make suggestions on how to improve the volunteer tourism by youth organizations based upon the practices and papers of volunteer tourism. Some of these youth organizations is international internship programmes, cultural exchange organizations, workcamps programs, technical and proffessional aid groups. On the study, besides the conceptual work, the websites of youth organizations and nongovermental organizations that perform volunteer tourism activities has been examined. As a result, it is revealed that volunteer tourism is a conceptual subject but not a common practice field. This paper suggests that it is possible to improve volunteer tourism practices in Turkey by The Ministry of Culture and Tourism and The Council of Higher Education’s support and to develop the cooperation with the Turkish citizens who lives in abroad. In addition, it is suggested that it is possible to re-build disaster area by the practices of volunteer tourism
