Abstract

Quality Control & Standard Compliance of the Machinery and Products Used for Vector Control

Year 2015, Volume: 1 Issue: 2 (2), 0 - 0, 07.01.2016

Abstract

Vector control; under the main title of “public health” is a highly complicated and “know how based” process. It is based on more than a dozen of scientific disciplines. As this process is effecting public health and the future of the environment directly, it must be executed in the light of scientific integrity. How much progress could be made in 30 years? Does new regulations contribute to the improvement to the quality of the products or equipment standards? Is it possible to detect the amount of the damage to the environment? Do we have well educated human resources? Problems arising from public authority (MOH) and universities - There is no full commitment to the EU/WHO regulations… - Lack of standardizations in testing… - Different “effective time” test results taken from a single source for the same active material... - Miracle products which have 2 times more biologically effective than coequal products... - Public Procurement Agency (KİK) rules which does not allow the purchase of the right product… Problems arising from formulators (producers) and importers - Highly concentrated products with doubts about their quality and application characteristics... - Formulations with “likely” names although they are not produced with same standards with the originals... - Formulations which do not meet the physical characteristics of the active ingredient... - Legally forbidden or false statements on product catalogues or company web sites... - Problems caused by excessive competition… Problems arising from the end user (public institutions) - Not being free while choosing equipment and product… - Insufficiency of staff and budget… - Not auditing the applicators on the field… - Choosing products and methods without paying attention to resistance… - Aapplications done with products and/or machines which are not designed to do the required task… - Machines which have not been calibrated/fixed for years…
