After a brief overview of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the objectives of its biocide programme, the speaker will present the tools developed by OECD that can be used by the biocides community (by registrants to submit their dossiers and by regulatory agencies to evaluate these dossiers). These tools include test guidelines and guidance documents on test methods specific to biocides (efficacy testing) or general to all chemicals, the (Q)SAR Toolbox (a software application to identify and fill (eco)toxicological data gaps for chemicals hazard assessment) and the e-Chem Portal (an Internet gateway to information on the properties, hazards & risks of chemicals found in the environment, homes and workplaces, and in everyday products).
