House fly (Musca domestica) is wrongly named in Turkey as “Black fly”, which belongs to the Simuliidae family. Most types of Muscidae, Fannia, Simuliidae and Sacrophagidae, which are closely encountering with people and animals, are catagorized as “filth flies”. Some of these flies are present in residential areas and some other types of these flies can be seen mostly in farms, stables, poultry farmhouses and sheds which are also close to the people. They are the carriers of Askaris and some worms as well as numerous intestinal, eye and skin diseases. They can carry these diseases both mechanically on their bodies and with the body fluids which they receive from their own food.
