Tajiks: Iranian People of the Central Asia and Tajikistan in the 20th Anniversary of its Independence

Year 2011, Volume: 15 Issue: 15, 349 - 398, 01.12.2011

Abstract

Situated at the heart of Central Asia, Tajikistan is the only country with a Persian-language. Tajiks, who are thought to be the natural heirs of Old Persians, Sogdians and Samanids and representative of sedentary civilizations have carried out their traditional lifestyles for centuries under the roof of Islam along with neighboring Turkic peoples. In the 19th century, with the occupation of ‘Turkestan’ by Russians, a new process, which focused on the goal of creating a socialist society after the October Revolution, started. During this period, ‘Tajik’ identity, like the other national identities, was created by the Soviet social engineering of nation-building.
In the first article of this study, that consists of two articles, the geography and the ethno-linguistic structure of the first independent Iranian state established 992 years after the collapse of the Samanid Dynasty and paradigms which the present regime is built upon are evaluated in the light of the information contained in the fundamental sources and observations in the field. In this way it is aimed that the Turkish readers will be better informed about Tajikistan and understand the aspects of 1500 years lasting Turco-Iranian symbiosis in the region under scrutiny.

ORTA ASYA’NIN İRANİ HALKI TACİKLER VE BAĞIMSIZLIĞININ 20. YILINDA TACİKİSTAN (I)

Year 2011, Volume: 15 Issue: 15, 349 - 398, 01.12.2011

Abstract

Orta Asya’nın ortasında yer alan Tacikistan Orta Asya’nın yegâne İrani dilli ülkesidir. Eski Perslerin, Soğdların ve Samanilerin doğal mirasçıları ve yerleşik uygarlık temsilcileri olarak kabul edilen Tacikler, yüzyıllar boyunca İslam çatısı altında komşu Türk halklarıyla birlikte geleneksel yaşamlarını sürdürmüşlerdir. 19. yüzyılda ‘Türkistan’ın Rus egemenliğine girmesi ile başlayan yeni süreç Ekim Devrimi’yle sosyalist toplumun inşasına odaklanmıştır. Bu süreçte, Tacik kimliği, diğer kimlikler gibi, Sovyet ulus inşa toplum mühendisliğince bugüne esas olacak biçimde inşa edilmiştir.
İki makaleden oluşan çalışmanın bu ilk makalesinde, Samanilerin yıkılmasından tam 992 yıl sonra kurulan ilk bağımsız İrani devletin coğrafyası, etno-linguistik yapısı, mevcut rejimin dayandığı değerler dizisi ana çizgileri ile temel kaynaklar ve alanda yapılan gözlemler ışığında değerlendirilmekte, bu yolla hakkında çok az şey bilinen Tacikistan’ın Türk okuyucular tarafından tanınması ve yaklaşık 1500 yıldır süren Türk-İran ortak kültürel yaşamının bu bölgedeki görünümünün anlaşılmasına katkı sağlanması amaçlanmaktadır.
