Dil Eğitiminde Göz İzleme Tekniğinin Kullanılması

Abstract

Dil eğitimi ve öğretimindeki en önemli hususlardan biri, süreç içinde kullanılan yöntemler ve tekniklerdir. Özellikle dil becerilerinin ne derece kazanıldığını değerlendirmede geleneksel olarak birtakım yollar izlenmektedir. Dil öğretiminde son zamanlarda teknoloji kullanımı ise hem öğretim hem de değerlendirme sürecinin önemli bir parçası hâline gelmiştir. Bu noktada göz izleme tekniği (eye-tracking tecnique), başta okuma becerisinin olmak üzere farklı dil etkinliklerinin değerlendirilmesinde kullanılan bir tekniktir. Yurt dışında çok eskiden beri, bizde de yeni yeni kullanılan bu teknik; psikoloji, tıp, reklamcılık gibi farklı alanlarda kullanılmakla birlikte dil eğitimi alanında da yaygınlaşmaktadır. Göz izleme, genellikle kızılötesi bir ışık sayesinde gözlerin bir görev esnasındaki hareketlerinin örüntüsünü çıkaran ve bunları özel bir yazılımla işleyen bir sistemdir. Göz izlemede farklı türden cihazlar ve yazılımlar kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, dünyada ve Türkiye’de göz izleme tekniğinin dil eğitimi alanında nasıl kullanıldığını ortaya koymaktır. Bu amaçla, dil eğitimi alanında göz izleme tekniği ile yapılmış yurt dışında ve Türkiye’deki başlıca çalışmalar incelenmiştir. Yapılan tarama sonucunda, göz izleme tekniğinin hem ana dili eğitiminde hem de ikinci/yabancı dil öğretiminde etkin kullanılabilecek bir teknik olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.
