Abstract

Abstract
Türkiye is one of the most abundant countries for Campanula genus diversity in the Mediterranean Basin and more than half of the species in Türkiye are endemic. In this manuscript, C. cymbalaria var. papillosa (Campanulaceae) is defined as a new variety from Türkiye. Diagnostic characters, full description and comprehensive photos for the variety were provided. According to its morphological features, it belongs to the Campanula subgen. Campanula sect. Saxicolae. This new variety is closely related morphologically to the C. cymbalaria var. cymbalaria. The new variety is easily distinguished from C. cymbalaria var. cymbalaria by the dense papillae covering the surface of the ovary and mature capsule. The differences between these two closely related varieties were given in detail. C. cymbalaria var. papillosa is an endemic variety for Türkiye.
