Yıkıcı Süreçlerin Gustav Metzger’in Sanatındaki Yansımaları Üzerine

Abstract

İkinci Dünya Savaşı’nın beraberinde getirdiği yıkımların etkisiyle otorite üzerinden sistem eleştirisi geliştiren sanatçılar protest ve eylemci bir tavır benimsemişlerdir. Kendi Kendini Yok Eden Sanat, böyle bir gerçekliğinin sonucudur. Gustav Metzger’in sanatındaki imha eyleminin temel hareket noktası siyasi, psikolojik ve toplumsal belirsizliklere dikkat çekmek, kendini yok eden, ayrışan ve yapısı bozulan nesnelerde biçim, özne, madde ve içeriği tek bir ifade düzleminde bir araya getirmektir. Böylece yıkımın kendisi estetik bir nitelik kazanmaktadır. Bu makale kapsamında Gustav Metzger’in eserleri ile DIAS Destruction in Art Symposium kapsamında sanatta imha olgusuna ilişkin yaklaşımlar incelenecektir

ON THE REFLECTIONS OF THE DESTRUCTIVE PROCESSES IN THE ART OF GUSTAV METZGER

Abstract

After the impact of destruction brought by the Second World War, several artists developed a system criticism against authority by adopting a protest and activist attitude. Gustave Metzger is one of those artists, and Auto Destructive Art is a result of such a reality. The basic point of the act of destruction in Metzger’s art is to draw attention to political, psychological and social uncertainties, and combine the form subject, material and content of these auto-destroyed, decomposed and deformed objects in a single level of expression. Thus, the destruction itself gets an aesthetic qualification. This article examines the art works of Metzger and the approaches to the phenomenon of destruction in art under the scope of DIAS Destruction in Art Symposium
