In this study, the responsibility of documentary cinema with respect to ecological issues is discussed. Documentary cinema is an important art form in terms of creating sensitivity to nature related events or drawing attention to these issues. Documentary cinema is a proper medium in creating an alternative discourse, being the voice of the society and even being directly the voice of nature. To discuss this subject, the documentary Kamilet (2013) is chosen as an example. The reason for choosing this documentary is that the Kamilet Valley in Artvin, which is dealt in the documentary, has a very special ecological structure and a HEPP project is desired to be built in this valley. Moreover, the film is the first documentary recorded in this region and it deals with human-nature harmony. The film is analyzed through an ecocritical approach. This analysis shows that Kamilet is a proof of the possibility of creating an integrated and balanced relationship between human beings and nature.
