Abstract

The sample of the study, which aims to examine the relationships between family negative emotions, work attention, and the importance of work, consists of 388 academic staff. Regression analyzes were applied to test the hypotheses developed within the conceptual framework of the research. It has been found that negative emotions from the family have a negative effect on attention to work and the importance of work has a moderating role in this relationship. This finding shows that negative spillover, which is assumed in the depletion approach and spillover theory, will not always be valid, and that this negative spillover may change depending on the importance given to roles.
