Öz
Pankreatik bir hormon olan amylin gıda alımına cevap olarak insülinle birlikte pankreasın beta hücrelerinden salgılanır. Hayvanlarda yapılan bazı çalışmalar amylinin glukoz homeostazisi üzerine etkilerinin olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Amylin mide boşalmasının kuvvetli bir inhibitörüdür. Bu etkiyi vagus siniri aracılığı ile yapmaktadır. Yapılan araştırmalarla arka beyinin area postrema bölgesinde amylin reseptörleri tanımlanmış ve amylinin mide boşalması üzerindeki etkilerinin bir kısmını merkezi sinir sistemi aracılığı ile gerçekleştirdiği ortaya koyulmuştur. Ayrıca amylin mide boşalması üzerine olan etkisinden farklı olarak gıda alımını da inhibe etmektedir. Buna ek olarak amylinin amino asitlerin uyardığı glukagon sekresyonunu da inhibe ederek gıda alımı sonrası endojen glukoz üretimini düşürebileceği de ortaya koyulmuştur. Bu derleme, yeni bir pankreatik hormon olan amylin ve glukoz homeostazisi üzerine etkileri konusunda bilgi vermek amacıyla hazırlanmıştır
