Abstract
Cerrahi alan enfeksiyonları (CAE) mortalite, morbidite, hastanede yatış süresi ve hastane maliyetini artırması bakımından cerrahide önemli bir sorundur. Bu enfeksiyonların gelişmesine zemin hazırlayan ve cerrahi sürece ait risk faktörleri arasında bulunan cilt temizliği üzerinde durulması gereken bir konudur. Patojenler için en iyi kaynağın cerrahi girişim başlamadan önce yapılan cilt temizliği sırasında cilt yüzeyinden olduğu düşünülmektedir. Günümüzde cilt temizliğinde iyodofor ya da klorheksidin içeren birçok antiseptik ajan kullanılmaktadır. Bu ajanların CAE’yi önleme konusunda tartışmalar hala devam etmektedir. Cerrahi sürece ait olan risk faktörlerini belirlemek zor olsa da cerrahi girişimlerde bu ajanlardan kaynaklanacak enfeksiyon riskinin ortadan kaldırılması ve hasta için en uygun malzemelerin kullanılması cerrahi ekibin en önemli görevleri arasında yer almaktadır. Bu derlemede, cilt temizliğinde kullanılan ajanların CAE’nin önlenmesi üzerindeki etkileri güncel literatür eşliğinde incelenmiş ve tartışılmıştır.
Abstract
Surgical site infection (SSI) is a serious problem of surgery considering increase in rates of mortality and morbidity, hospitalization period and healthcare costs. The skin preparation, which are among the surgical risk factors providing a basis for development of these infections is an issue, which inevitably requires consideration. A source for pathogens is often thought to be the skin surface, making skin preparation at the time of the surgical procedure. Nowadays, the most common skin preparation agents used include products containing iodophors or chlorhexidine gluconate. Discussions of these agents in preventing surgical site infections is continuing. Although it is difficult to determine the risk factors with the surgical process, removal of the risk of infection originating from these agents during the surgical interventions and use of best suitable materials in the patient are among the most significant duties of the surgical team. The effects of skin preparation agents on prevention of SSI are examined and discussed regarding the recent literatures.
