With the mass migration caused by the Syrian war, Turkey has met the Syrians with an open door policy, a policy of non-refoulement, and a policy of providing basic needs in accordance with the international refugee regime and granting Temporary Protection Status, which is one of the forms of international protection. The fact that so many immigrants are dispersed to every city in Turkey affects Turkish citizens in many ways in terms of social, economic, political and security aspects. Since migration and migrants are perceived as the things that prevent the normal flow of life, they are considered as a threat category in their own right. Since it changes the lives of people living in the host country, it also affects the way society lives together. In this sense, migration is seen as a social security problem.
The main purpose of this article is to determine the security perception of Turkish citizens living in Izmir among the social, economic, political and security effects of Syrians on Turkish society. Izmir, being Turkey's 3rd most populous city and has been in the list of the most crowded Syrian population, has been selected in the scope of the study due to the tolerance of the people in the city, having many immigrants from the Balkans. To measure this perception, the 'Social Security Perceptions Questionnaire', of which reliability and validity has been proven, was applied. It has been determined that the perception of security in the city is extremely high.
