Abstract

In this study, the relationship between real GDP, foreign direct investment, human capital and total factor productivity is examined for the period from 1985 to 2014 in Turkey using with ARDL bound test. According to the findings, the impact of economic growth on total factor productivity is positive, the effect of human capital on factor productivity is positive but statistically insignificant in the short run. The effect of foreign direct investment on factor productivity is statistically insignificant. In the long-run, the impact of economic growth and foreign direct investment on factor productivity is statistically insignificant; the effect of human capital on total factor productivity is positive.

DOĞRUDAN YABANCI YATIRIMLAR VE TOPLAM FAKTÖR VERİMLİLİĞİ İLİŞKİSİ: TÜRKİYE ÖRNEĞİ

Abstract

Çalışmada gayri safi yurt içi hâsıla, doğrudan yabancı yatırımlar, beşeri sermaye ve toplam faktör verimliliği arasındaki ilişki Türkiye için 1985–2014 dönemi baz alınarak ARDL sınır testi aracılığıyla incelenmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar incelendiğinde, kısa dönemde ekonomik büyümenin toplam faktör verimliliği (TFP) üzerinde etkisinin pozitif olduğu, beşeri sermayenin toplam faktör verimliliği (TFP) üzerinde etkisinin pozitif fakat istatistiki olarak anlamsız olduğu görülmektedir. Doğrudan yabancı yatırımların ise faktör verimliliği üzerindeki etkisinin kısa dönemde anlamsız olduğu görülmüştür. Uzun dönemde, ekonomik büyümenin ve doğrudan yabancı yatırımların faktör verimliliği üzerinde anlamlı bir etkiye sahip olmadığı; beşeri sermayenin toplam faktör verimliliği (TFP) üzerindeki etkisinin pozitif olduğu görülmektedir.
