ASSESSMENT OF NOISE PROBLEM IN NONWOVEN INDUSTRY

Abstract

The textile industry is a constantly developing sector from the past to the present. Since the machines used in textile production are large machines and working at high speeds, they emit significant noise. Beside the health problems related to hearing, employees exposed to noise also suffer from problems such as insomnia, distractibility and nervousness. A high level of noise in the environment, especially in jobs that require intense attention, moreover leads to work accident. Therefore, noise control in textile sector is very crucial. There are several control methods for reducing noise in workplaces. These methods are noise control at the source, noise control in the path and noise control at the receiver. Engineering methods that control the noise at the source are about making changes in machinery and processes. In this study general knowledge about noise is given. The noise problem in the nonwoven sector and the measures that can be taken against noise is examined.
