Assignment problems refer to the process of efficiently assigning elements from various sources to specific targets based on certain criteria. These problems are commonly encountered in solving complex optimization issues in areas such as workforce planning, logistics, and production systems. In this study, a bibliometric analysis was conducted on 227 theses related to assignment problems, published in the National Thesis Center of the Council of Higher Education (YÖKTEZ) between 1985 and 2024. A noticeable increase in the number of theses in this field was observed between 2006 and 2011, and 80% of the theses (173 theses) were at the master's level. Moreover, 85% (175 theses) were completed at public universities, with the highest number of studies carried out at Middle East Technical University. The field of Industrial and Industrial Engineering accounted for the majority of these theses, with the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences being the most common graduate institute, and Industrial Engineering being the most frequently selected department. Assignment problems were most often addressed within the field of Industrial Engineering, comprising 40.52% of all theses (109 theses). This prevalence is primarily due to the direct applicability of assignment problems to real-world challenges in production processes, workforce management, resource allocation, and logistics.

30.03.2021-Beginning with our April 2021 (26/1) issue, in accordance with the new criteria of TR-Dizin, the Declaration of Conflict of Interest and the Declaration of Author Contribution forms fulfilled and signed by all authors are required as well as the Copyright form during the initial submission of the manuscript. Furthermore two new sections, i.e. ‘Conflict of Interest’ and ‘Author Contribution’, should be added to the manuscript. Links of those forms that should be submitted with the initial manuscript can be found in our 'Author Guidelines' and 'Submission Procedure' pages. The manuscript template is also updated. For articles reviewed and accepted for publication in our 2021 and ongoing issues and for articles currently under review process, those forms should also be fulfilled, signed and uploaded to the system by authors.
