EDUCATION AMONG UIGHURS IN THE 8th – 13th CENTURY
Abstract
The 8th - 13th century is the most brilliant period in the history of the Uighur culture. In
the same period, Uighurs increasingly made progress on state administration, law, military,
economy, trade, science, language, writing, education and the arts field; especially after 840
they gained many of the achievements that shaped the Turkish cultural history in the field of
education and science by transmitting the Uighur political center to Central Asia. Uighurs
using many of literary languages all together produced many publications benefiting from
paper and printing, raised the educational institutions to a level close to modern times and
opened libraries. In fact, Uighurs in this century became the real representative of Turkish
culture. And also, the successes of Uighurs in the field of education come from among the
contributions of Turks for world culture. In this study, the development of the Uighur
education based on various materials in the 8th - the 13th century is investigated.

Abstract
8-13. yüzyıllar Uygur kültür tarihinin en parlak dönemidir. Aynı dönemde Uygurlar
devlet idaresi, hukuk, askerlik, iktisat, ticaret, fen, bilim, dil, yazı, eğitim ve sanat sahasında
gittikçe gelişme göstermiş; özellikle 840’dan sonra Uygurların siyasi merkezinin İç Asya’ya
nakledilmesiyle eğitim ve fen sahasında Türk kültür tarihine yön veren pek çok başarı
kazanmışlardır. Birçok yazıyı bir arada kullanan Uygurlar kâğıt ve matbaadan faydalanarak
birçok yayın ortaya koymuş, eğitim-öğretim kurumlarını günümüzdekine yakın bir düzeye
ulaştırmış ve kütüphaneleri yaygınlaştırmıştır. Nitekim bu yüzyıllarda Uygurlar Türk
kültürünün gerçek mümessilleri durumuna gelmiştir. Uygurların eğitim sahasında gösterdiği
başarılar Türklerin dünya kültürüne yaptığı katkılar arasında da gelmektedir. Söz konusu
çalışmamızda çeşitli malzemelere dayanarak 8-13.yüzyıllardaki Uygur eğitiminin gelişme
merhalesinden bahsedilmektedir.
