The Analysis of The Ayi Islam Batur Tale via Vladimir Propp’s “Structural Analysis of The Folktales” Method

Abstract

As the other folklore products the fairy tales have also been analysed via various theoretical approaches and methods. One of these methods is Vladımır Propp’s Structural Analysıs of The Folktales method. Propp, aimed at reaching the structural elements that create the folk tale. What Propp wanted to realise during this analysis was to identify the functions and movements, create the scheme of the tale and reach a structural framework of the genre that is universally applicable. The functions and movements of the Uyghur tale Ayı İslam Batur will be identified and the tale’s scheme will be created by Propp’s structural analysis method in this work.

AYI İSLAM BATUR MASALININ VLADİMİR PROPP’UN “MASALLARIN YAPISAL ÇÖZÜMLEMESİ” YÖNTEMİYLE İNCELENMESİ

Abstract

Masallar, diğer halk bilgisi ürünleri gibi çeşitli kuramsal yaklaşımlar ve yöntemlerle incelenmektedir. Bu yöntemlerden birisi Vladimir Propp’un Masalların Yapısal Çözümlemesi yöntemidir. Söz konusu yöntem masalı oluşturan yapı elementlerine yönelik olup masaldaki fonksiyon adı verilen temel hareketleri tespit etmek ve bu suretle masalın şemasını çıkarmak, tüm masallar için genel geçer bir yapı iskeletine ulaşmayı hedefler. Bu makalede Propp’un yapısal çözümleme yöntemi Uygurlara ait Ayı İslam Baturmasalına uygulanacak ve masalın fonksiyonları tespit edilip temel çatısı ortaya konulacaktır.
