The Mulberry Tree and Its Influence on Uyghur Culture Z

Abstract

The Uyghur people have had some different religious beliefs during the history. Such as some influences of Shamanism and worships still exists in Uyghur's life, culture and literature. One elements in the center of life is tree cult which is as essential as water, air, soil from the occurrence of the universe. One of the trees that sanctity is attributed to in tree cult is mulberry tree. It has especially gained an important place on Uyghur culture. In this article, I will describe the tree cult of some Turkic people and the elements of sacred mulberry trees among Uyghur culture from the primitive believes to the modern society. I will use some mythical legends as a source in this paper

Abstract

Uygur halkı, tarihte birkaç dine itikat etmiştir. Uygurların Şaman dini içerisinde ağaçları kutsaması, onların inanç ve düşünce dünyasından yer alan önemli unsurlardan biridir. Bu inancın etkisi, Uygurların kültüründe ve edebiyatında günümüze kadar gelmiştir. Makalede, bazı Türk boylarının ağaç kültüne ait inanç ve uygulamalarında hareketle dut ağacının Uygur halkının geçmişten günümüze kültür ve edebiyatındaki yeri ve önemi efsane ve rivayetlerden hareketle ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır.
