A Review of Literature on the Literature ın the Acquisition of Turkish and English Article System

Year 2020, Volume: 1 Issue: 1, 83 - 91, 30.06.2020

Abstract

Languages may as well differ from each other whether they have article system and the features of the article system. While English has an article system, researchers present different point of views as to the presence of an article system in Turkish. To this end, this study aims to analyze different point of views about Turkish article system and draw attention to some controversial issues about acquisition of English article system by the Turkish speakers based on the studies carried out by the speakers of Turkish and other languages. Within this scope, Turkish and English article systems and definiteness/specifity were analyzed and some studies on the acquisition of English article system were examined. Both the literature review and the studies examined proposed that there is a need to make a distinction as to whether there is an article system in Turkish or not. Moreover, the teachers should consider the competence and performance of the speakers and therefore the articles should be dealt with according to their definitiness and specifity.

Türkçe ve İngilizce Tanımlık Sistemi Edinimine Dair Alanyazın Taraması

Year 2020, Volume: 1 Issue: 1, 83 - 91, 30.06.2020
