BASRA KÖRFEZİ’NDE DEVLET İNŞASI SÜREÇLERİNDE İNGİLTERE’NİN ROLÜ: BAHREYN ÖRNEĞİ

Abstract
İngiltere, 19. yüzyılın başlarından itibaren imzalanan anlaşmalar serisi ve şeyhlikler arasında ayrışmayı sağlayacak bazı uygulamalar ile Basra Körfezi’nde bugün var olan parçalı jeopolitik yapıyı inşa etmiştir. 20. yüzyılın ikinci çeyreğinde petrol şirketlerinin bölgeye gelmesinin de etkisiyle şeyhlikler arasında kesin sınırlar çizilmiştir. Bu dönemden itibaren Körfez şeyhliklerinin bugün de var olan bürokratik sistemleri İngiliz diplomatlar ve danışmanlar eliyle bizzat inşa edilmiştir. Bu çalışmada, Bahreyn’in modern devlet yapısının oluşum sürecinde İngiltere’nin rolü incelenmektedir. Sonuç kısmında da siyasi yapının ve bürokratik sistemin oluşumunda İngiltere’nin oynadığı rolün Bahreyn’deki İngiliz nüfuzunun temelini oluşturduğu görüşü dile getirilmektedir
