Many different elements play a role in the transfer of culture over generations or in the transfer of it from one place to another. An important component that assumes these functions is clothing. Since the first period of humanity, clothing products have been used for many different reasons, such as protection, decoration or shame. The reason for clothing is sometimes related to the sacred also sometimes it is purely to determine the social position. Especially in imperial times, clothing preferences were decisive in reflecting the status of people in society or the religious society of which they were members. In addition to expressing a profession or religious opinion, clothing can also symbolize sexual identity or political stance. In the Modern period, clothings preferences can be seen as a way to get out of these various patterns. In smaller communities, clothing can often be used as a tool to indicate a person's marital status. Such symbols are mostly manifested in traditional clothing. Although traditional clothing habits are mostly abandoned today, traditional clothing habits are still observed in certain regions and relatively closed communities. Resident Yoruk women living in Ayvacık also continue to use traditional clothing products by partially modernizing them and giving themselves an identity in the society in which they live through the colors and symbols in these products.
