İlkokul Öğrencilerinin Sözvarlığını Geliştirmede Yaratıcı Drama Yönteminin Etkisi

Abstract

Bu araştırmada, ilkokul dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin sözvarlığını, atasözleri ve deyimler açısından geliştirmede yaratıcı dramayı bir yöntem olarak kullanmak amaçlanmıştır. Özel bir ilkokulun dördüncü sınıf öğrencisi olan 3 kız, 14 erkek toplam 17 öğrencinin katılımı ile gerçekleştirilen çalışmanın uygulamaları, 18 saat süren toplam 6 oturum biçiminde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu araştırma, zayıf deneysel desenlerden, tek grup öntest-sontest deseni ile modellenmiştir. Araştırmada nicel ve nitel veri toplama teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Nicel veri toplama aracı olarak açık uçlu sorulardan oluşan başarı testi geliştirilmiştir. Geliştirilen açık uçlu sorulardan oluşturulan başarı testi, öntest- sontest olacak biçimde sürecin başında ve sonunda iki defa uygulanmıştır. Nitel veriler, öğrencilerin her oturum sonunda yazdıkları günlükler yoluyla toplanmıştır. Nicel veriler Wilcoxon İşaretli-Sıralar Testi, nitel veriler ise betimsel analiz yöntemleriyle değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, yaratıcı dramanın ilkokul öğrencilerinin sözvarlığını geliştirmede, süreç içerisinde kullanılan deyimlerin ve atasözlerinin anlamlarının öğrenciler tarafından daha iyi algılanmasında kullanılabilecek etkili bir öğretim yöntemi olduğu söylenebilir.

Utilizing Creative Drama for Developing the Vocabulary of Primary School Students

Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop the vocabulary of 4th grade primary school
students through utilizing creative drama as a method. The implementation of this
study was carried out with the participation of 17 students (3 girls and 14 boys) from
the 4th grade of a private primary school. The implementation process was comprised
of 18 hours (3 hours per session). The research desing of the study was structured by
quasi-experimental type that included one group pretest and posttest model has been
applied. It was collected both quantitative and qualitative data during the research.
An achievement test with open-ended questions was developed by the researcher
as a quantitative data collection tool. This achivement test was implemented twice
both at the begining of the process and at the end of the process as a pre and post
test. Qualitative data was collected through student diaries. Students wrote diaries
at the end of every session. Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was used for analysis of
quantitative data. Descriptive analysis was used for analysis of qualitative data.
According to research results, it can be said that creative drama is an effective
education method for both developing vocabulary of primary school students and
better understanding of proverbs’ and idioms’ meanings by the students
