SYRIAN IMMIGRATION EFFECT ON SOCIAL CAPITAL IN TURKEY: EMPIRICAL STUDY

Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of this study is to examine the impact of migration from Syria on Turkey's social capital. In this context, Turkey's social capital index produced at the provincial level and be considered as intervention year of 2012, the pre-intervention of 2007 and 2017 were evaluated after the intervention. One of the methods accepted in the impact analysis literature to examine the impact of immigrants who entered Turkey after the Syrian civil war on social capital; single group designs, comparative group designs, difference-in-difference method and trend score matching methods are applied and the results are interpreted. Accordingly, it was observed that Syrian migration did not have a positive or negative effect on the social capital index values evaluated within the scope of the criteria discussed in this study.
