ENERGY COUNSUMPTION AND ECONOMIC GROWTH: PANEL COINTEGRATION ANALYSIS FOR DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

Abstract

The subject of the study is the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth. The main purpose of the study, since 1980’s so many economists which research the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth is to analyzed both theoretically and empirically. First; in tihis study, literature has been examined later the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth empirically has been measured by panel cointegration analysis method. Data of study were obtained from The World Bank Data Bank. Result of analyses, it has been concluded that there has been a cointegtration between energy consumption and economic growth.

ENERJİ TÜKETİMİ VE EKONOMİK BÜYÜME: GELİŞMEKTE OLAN ÜLKELER İÇİN BİR PANEL EŞBÜTÜNLEŞME ANALİZİ

Abstract

Çalışmanın konusu enerji tüketimi ve ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişkidir. Çalışmanın temel amacı; 1980’lerden bu yana birçok iktisatçının üzerinde araştırmalar yaptığı enerji tüketimi ile ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişkinin hem teorik hem de ampirik olarak analiz edilmesidir. Çalışmada öncelikle konuyla ilgili literatür incelenmiş ve panel eşbütünleşme analiz yöntemini kullanılarak, ekonomik büyüme ile enerji tüketimi arasındaki ilişkiyi ampirik olarak ölçülmüştür. Çalışmanın verileri Dünya Bankası’nın İstatistiki Veri Tabanı’ndan elde edilmiştir. Analizler sonucunda, enerji tüketimi ile ekonomik büyüme arasında bir eşbütünleşeme ilişkisinin olduğu sunucuna ulaşılmıştır.
