Abstract
Following the recent economic crisis, there are warnings from some political and economic fi gures concerning the precautions to be taken in order not to confront another one. The precautions suggested by these authorities differ from each other. To avoid similar crisis, while some experts think there should be a limited state control, others think state control can be achieved without any concessions from free market economy. But there is not a single consensus about what these precautions should be. This study discusses Social Market Economy as an alternative solution. First, the term of Social Market Economy is defi ned, then the process of this system is explained, fi nally the study discusses the difference between Social Market Economy and Free Market Economy and exhibits whether Social Market Economy has a preventive capability or not. The study ends with fi ndings of results of the Social Market Economy and successes of some countries where Social Market Economy is applied. As a result, this study seeks solutions concerning what precautions should be taken in order that citizens who pay their taxes regularly and have limited incomes don’t pay for the results of the present crisis in the future.

Abstract
Yaşanan mali krizin ardından önemli siyasi ve ekonomist çevrelerden, bir daha böyle bir krizin yaşanmaması için, önlemler alınması gerektiği yönünde talepler yükselmektedir. Bu çevrelerin önerdikleri önlemler ise farklılaşmaktadır. Benzer krizleri önlemek açısından bazı çevreler kısıtlı devlet kontrolü talep ederken, diğerleri serbest piyasa koşullarından taviz verilmeden böyle bir denetimin söz konusu olabileceğini dile getirmektedirler. Ancak bu önlemlerin neler olabilecekleri konusunda fi kir birliği sağlanmış değildir. Çalışma böyle bir krizin tekrar yaşanmaması için alternatif çözüm olarak Sosyal Piyasa Ekonomisini tartışmaya açmaktadır. Sosyal Piyasa Ekonomisi tanımlandıktan ve nasıl işlediği irdelendikten sonra Serbest Piyasa Ekonomisinden farkları ve söz konusu krizleri önleyici yönlerinin olup olmadığı tartışılmaktadır. Çalışma, yaşanmakta olan küresel mali krizin faturasının gelecekte de vergilerini düzenli ödeyen ve sınırlı gelire sahip vatandaşlara çıkarılmaması için önlemlerin alınması gerektiğine vurgu yaparak bu tür önlemlerin neler olabilecekleri konusunda çözüm aramaktadır. Özetle, Serbest Piyasa Ekonomisine önem verilerek ve vurgu yapılarak kurumsal kontrolleri reddeden bir anlayışın, finansal sistem tepetaklak olduğunda da, devletten yardım ve destek beklemesi ve böylece krizin faturasını vatandaşa ödetmesi adil olmamaktadır.
