In this study, it was investigated the effect of different extracurricular learning environments on students' attitudes and interest in Science Course. The sample of the study consisted of 4 students (2 girls, 2 boys). The data in the study were obtained in the 2016-2017 academic year. Qualitative research method was used in this study. Data obtained from the study were acquired by asking open-ended questions and making semi-structured interviews. 7 open-ended questions were asked before and after the event. Students in the study; 7 open-ended questions were asked to 20 students who were considered to have a negative attitude towards the Science course from all 6th grades in the school and 4 students were selected among them considering the answers given. With these 4 students, various activities were carried out by going to an extracurricular learning
environment every fifteen days. After all the activities, The data were collected by resquestioning
the open ended questions which were asked at the first step and by having semi structured
interviews. The collected data were commented via content analysis method. As a result of the
study, it was proved that the students who had a negative attitude towards science lesson began to
have positive attitude towards the lesson. The students started to make meaningful relations
between science lessons and daily life and to do homeworks, researches, experiments and various
activities outside of the school. What is more, students who did not like doing homework started
to like doing homework after the events. Science course will contribute to their future in a
positive way. Students have explained that Science is fun.
