Examining of the Effect of Pozzolans on Concrete Compressive Strength by Artificial Neural Network

Abstract

In this study, determination of effect of fly-ash content as pozzolan admixture on the compressive strength of concrete was investigated by use of Artificial Neural Network (ANN). ANN has been gain to importance in civil engineering application as soon as other applications in last century. For modeling to ANN, Matlab program was used. In the approach of modeling with ANN, produced concretes by replacement of fly ash by ratio of 0 (control), 10, 20 and 30 % content with cement were used in different water-cement ratio. Experimental compressive strength values of concretes at 7, 28, 90 and 365 ages compared with ANN values. As a result, it can be obtained that optimum fly ash content for the best compressive strength for early age and hardened concrete with ANN.
