Deformation Analysis on The Yamula Dam

Abstract

One of the most important application areas of deformation measurements is deformation-monitoring study carrying out on dams. In our country, it cannot be say that these measurements are made in required shape. This situation is the same in many countries in the world. As a consequence of major dam failures, authorities in various countries require that dams and reservoirs larger than a certain magnitude be systematically monitored by geodetic and geophysical techniques to ensure their structural integrity and the safety of the public. In this paper we analyze geodetic records between December 2003 and April 2005 (four periods data) describing deformation of the body of a medium size earth fill dam called the Yamula, and try to investigate temporal behavior of it. A geodetic deformation model called static was used to provide an answer to this problem. It was recognized that all points were moving on the dam.
