Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and erectile dysfunction

Abstract

Objective: Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome OSAS , which characterized recurrent upper respiratory tract collapse, is shown over 40 years old men in more than 10% incidence, which cause erectile dysfunction that not clearly defined, in 30% with 50% of these men have OSAS. In this study we have tried to reveal the relationship OSAS and ED because of unclear multifactorial etiology. Material and Methods: We have examined 70 patients who could not be treated because of erectile dysfunction; demographic information, gonadal function, lower urinary tract symptoms, comorbidity index and IIEF International Index of Erectile Function -15 form for erectile dysfunction, who applied for sleep disturbance and testing polisomnograpy at polisomnograpy laboratuary. Obstruktif uyku apne sendromu ve erektil disfonksiyon

Abstract

Amaç: Tekrarlayan üst solunum yolu kollapsı ile karakterize olan Obstruktif Uyku Apne Sendromu OSAS , 40’lı yaşlarını geçmiş erkeklerin %10’undan fazlasında gösterilmiş olup bu erkeklerin %30 ile 50’sinde sebebi tam açıklanamamış erektil disfonksiyon görülmektedir. Bu çalışmamızda etiyolojisi netlik kazanmamış multifaktöryel nedenlere bağlı olduğu düşünülen OSAS ve ED ilişkisi ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Uyku bozukluğu nedeniyle Kulak Burun Boğaz hastalıkları obstruktif uyku apne bozukluğu polikliniğine başvurusu sonrası polisomnografik testleri yapılan , erektil disfonksiyon nedeniyle tedavi olamamış 70 hastanın demografik bilgileri, gonadal fonksiyonları, alt üriner sistem semptom sorguları, komorbidite indeksleri ve IIEF International Index of Erectile Function -15 sorgu formları eşliğinde erektil disfonksiyon açısından sorgulanmıştır. Bulgular: Polisomnografik bulgularına göre obstruktif sleep apne derecesi sınıflandırılan hastalar gruplandırılarak IIEF-15 formu ve belirtilen parametreler çerçevesinde değerlendirildiğinde uyku apne sendromu ile erektil disfonksiyon arasında anlamlı ilişki olduğu saptandı p
