RUSSIAN AND TURKISH RELATIONSHIP IN THE NATIONAL FIGHT AGAINST THE GREEN ORDU - ÇERKEZ ETHEM - MUSTAFA SUPHI AND FRIENDS TRIANGLE
Abstract
The Green Army Society
was founded by Mustafa Kemal during the National Struggle with the
participation of his close friends. At that time, the success of the National Struggle depended on air from
Soviet Russia. Established with the approval of Mustafa Kemal Pasha, in order to
obtain the support of Soviet Russia, this association was seen as a serious
threat and ensured that the Circassian Ethem, via the Unionists, joined the
association as an armed force. Mustafa Suphi, the president of the Communist
Party of Turkey in Russia, and his friends’ desires to maintain Bolshevism
activities in Turkey caused the government of Ankara to pursue a policy of controlling the left
factions. As a result, the Green Army Society, which had been established with
the approval of Mustafa Kemal, was, too, closed with his approval. This was a
direct result of the Bolshevism activities, the formation of the Bolshevik
Tabur, and the notion of a Circassian Ethem threat to Turkey
