Abstract

This study was carried out to determine whether the methenolone enanthate, an anabolic steroid, has wound healing effect after experimental enterotomy operation in rats. After enterotomy surgery, rats of 250-300 g weight were divided into control and experimental groups. Rats in the control group n=10 were treated with 20 000 IU penicillin G procaine/animal im for four days and animals in the experimental group n— 10 received single dose of methenolone enanthate 5 mg/animal plus penicillin administration at day 1 after surgery. According to results of histopathological examinations of the tissue samples skin and intestinal taken at day 7, it was found the methenolone enanthate signifıcantly increased healing compared with control

Deneysel enterotomiyi takiben uygulanan metenolon enantat’ın yara iyileşmesi üzerine etkisi

Abstract

Bu çalışma, deneysel enterotomi operasyonlarını takiben uygulanan anabolik steroid madde metenolon enantatın, yara iyileştirici etkisinin bulunup bulunmadığını belirlemek için gerçekleştirilmiştir. Enterotomiden sonra 250-300 g ağırlığındaki ratlar, kontrol ve çalışma grubuna ayrılmışlar; kontrol grubundakilere 10 adet dört gün boyunca im yolla 20 000 IU/rat dozunda prokain penisilin verilmiştir. Çalışma grubundaki hayvanlara 10 adet , penisilin uygulamalarına ek olarak, ilk gün im yolla 5 mg/rat dozunda metenolon enantat uygulanmıştır. Operasyondan sonraki 7. günde alınan doku örneklerinin deri ve barsak histopatolojik incelemelerinden elde edilen sonuçlara göre, kontrol ile karşılaştırıldığında metenolon enantatın iyileşmeyi belirgin olarak artırdığı belirlenmiştir
