A Break for Operatıng Room Staff: A Neglected İssue

Öz

INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this study was to introduce the break rooms, break intervals and duration in the operating rooms and to create resources related to the subject. METHODS: The authors searched Medline, Cochrane Library, PubMed, Clinical Key, OVID, ScienceDirect, CINAHL, EBSCO, BMJ, ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global Full Text, ULAKBIM, Higher Education Institution National Thesis Center electronic databases from 2008 to 2018. Studies were reviewed using Employee security “Ergonomics and rest”, “Ergonomics in Operating Room”, “Operating Room Ergonomics”, “Rest in the operating room”, “Standing Work" keywords. After examining 67 articles, 3 international theses and 2 national theses, The researchers reported 7 articles and a national thesis about break in the operating room and reported the studies about employee safety, ergonomics in the operating room. RESULTS: It is reported that the break rooms/areas are not suitable in a few studies about break rooms providing the rest of the staff in the operating room. According to the labor law in our country, it is stated that there should be at least 1 hour rest in the works over 7.5 hours and these rest periods can be used intermittently due to the nature of the work. It is stated that the ergonomic conditions for the employees are possible by arranging the rest periods. However, many studies have shown that health workers standing in the operating room for a long time are at risk for many musculoskeletal and peripheral vascular diseases.DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: In the literature, there are no resources explaining resting rooms, rest intervals and duration for operating room workers and legal regulations do not provide detailed information on this issue. In the literature, since there are no studies related to working hours and how to arrange breaks in the operating room, scientific studies are required to present numerical data on this subject.

Ameliyathane Çalışanları İçin Dinlenme: Göz Ardı Edilen Bir Konu

Öz

GİRİŞ ve AMAÇ: Bu çalışmanın amacı ameliyathane çalışanları için dinlenme odaları, dinlenme aralıkları ve dinlenme sürelerini ortaya koymak; konu ile ilgili kaynak oluşturmaktır. YÖNTEM ve GEREÇLER: Medline, Cochrane Library, PubMed, Clinical Key, OVID, ScienceDirect, CINAHL, EBSCO, BMJ, ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global Full Text, ULAKBİM, YÖK Yüksek Öğretim Kurumu Ulusal Tez Merkezi elektronik veri tabanları “Ameliyathane ve çalışan güvenliği”, “Ergonomi ve dinlenme”, “Ameliyathane Ergonomisi”, “Ameliyathanede dinlenme” “Ayakta çalışma” anahtar kelimeler kullanılarak tarandı. Elektronik veri tabanlarında 2008 ile 2018 tarihleri arasında yayınlanmış çalışmalar araştırmacılar tarafından incelenerek ameliyathanede dinlenme sürelerini konu alan 67 makalenin, 3 uluslararası ve 2 ulusal tezin incelenmesinden sonra,7 makale ve bir ulusal tez rapor edilerek ameliyathanede çalışan güvenliği ve ergonomiye yönelik yapılan çalışmalar sunuldu.BULGULAR: Ameliyathane çalışanlarının dinlenmesini sağlayacak dinlenme odaları ile ilgili az sayıdaki çalışmada, dinlenme odaları/ alanlarının uygun olmadığı bildirilmektedir. Dinlenme araları hakkında; Ülkemizde iş kanunu yasalarına göre 7.5 saat üzerindeki işlerde en az 1 saat aralıksız dinlenmesi gerektiği ve işin niteliği gereği bu dinlenme süreleri aralıklı olarak kullandırılabilecekleri belirtilmektedir. Çalışanlar için ergonomik koşulların sağlanması çalışma ve dinlenme sürelerinin düzenlenmesi ile mümkün olduğu belirtilmektedir. Ancak yapılan birçok çalışma göstermektedir ki ameliyathanede uzun süre ayakta ve kesintisiz çalışan sağlık çalışanları birçok kas iskelet sistemi ve periferik damar hastalıkları açısından risk altındadır.TARTIŞMA ve SONUÇ: Literatürde ameliyathane çalışanları için dinlenme odaları, dinlenme aralıkları ve süresini net bir şekilde açıklayan kaynaklar bulunmamakla birlikte yasal düzenlemeler bu konuda ayrıntılı bilgi vermemektedir. Literatürde ameliyathanede çalışma süreleri ve molaların nasıl düzenleneceği ile ilgili direkt ilişkili çalışmaya rastlanmadığından bu konu ile ilgili sayısal verileri sunacak bilimsel çalışmalara ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır.
