The psychiatric view of the patient with palpitations

Öz

Palpitations are the frequently reported symptoms in primary settings. Underlying reason of palpitations in many patients is a psychiatric disorder rather than a physical illness. Anxiety disorders are the most frequently seen psychiatric disorder in patients with palpitations. Patients with mood disorders, somatoform disorders, or psychotic disorders also exhibit increased levels of palpitations. This review, psychiatric view of palpitations will be discussed.

Çarpıntılı hastaya psikiyatrik bakış

Öz

Çarpıntı birinci basamakta sık karşılaşılan bir belirtidir. Çarpıntılı hastaların çoğunluğunda çarpıntının nedeni bir hastalıktan çok psikiyatrik bir bozukluktur. Çarpıntı ile en sık ilişkili olan psikiyatrik bozukluk grubu kaygı bozuklarıdır. Ayrıca duygudurum bozukluklarına, somatoform bozukluklara ve psikotik bozukluklara sahip hastalarda da çarpıntı yakınmasına daha fazla rastlanır. Bu makalede çarpıntılı hastaya psikiyatrik bakış açısı tartışılacaktır.
