Öz

Advances in information and simulation technologies have allowed people to live in a virtual universe. In the simplest terms, the Metaverse is called the experience-based internet. Avatars serve as the representation of humans in this world of experience. On the other side, avatars make it simple to exist in anonymity and conceal genuine identity. In a place where the truth is concealed, it is impossible for someone to discover the meaning of life. Metaverse holds the dream of a transformation so powerful that it can have individual and social interactions. This transformation can be observed in all social institutions, including religion. This study is based on the question of how the god will be positioned in a human-created universe where the sacred has become meaningless. The focus of the article is on the fundamental interconnections between religion and the Metaverse. It has been attempted to discover whether there may be religions based on morality, worship, and belief in the virtual universe. According to the study, worship would lose all significance in the metaverse, religious belief would decline, and moral principles would re-establish. Desecular existence has started to emerge in the virtual world, and the possibility for mythical and eclectic ideas to proliferate has also been considered. The Metaverse, however, poses a danger to established religions since it has the capacity to develop its own rituals and beliefs. The study is intended to further technologically focused conversations in the literature on religious sciences.

Öz

Bilişim ve simülasyon teknolojilerindeki gelişmeler, insanın sanal bir evrende yaşamasına imkân tanımıştır. En basit. İfadeyle Metaverse deneyime dayalı internet olarak adlandırılır. Bu deneyim alanı içinde insanlar avatarlarla temsil edilir. Avatarlar ise anonim olarak var olmayı ve gerçek kimliği gizlemeyi kolaylaştırır. Gerçeğin gizlendiği bir mekânda insanın yaşamın anlamına erişmesi ise imkansızdır. Metaverse, bireysel ve toplumsal etkileşimleri olabilecek denli güçlü bir dönüşüm hayalini barındırmaktadır. Bu dönüşüm din dahil tüm toplumsal kurumlarda izlenebilir. Bu çalışma, kutsalın anlamsızlaştığı insan yaratımı bir evrende tanrının ne şekilde konumlanacağı sorusu üzerine kuruludur. Makale, Metaverse ve din arasındaki temel etkileşimlere odaklanmaktadır. İnanç, ibadet ve ahlak üzerine kurulu dinlerin sanal evrendeki imkânı belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Çalışmada dini inancın metaverse içinde azalacağı, ibadetlerin anlamsızlaşacağı, etik değerlerin yeniden oluşturulacağına yönelik çıkarımlar yapılmıştır. Ayrıca sanal evrende deseküler yaşamın gelişmeye başladığı, mitolojik ve eklektik inancın yaygınlaşma potansiyeli taşıdığı da tartışılmıştır. Bununla birlikte Metaverse, kurumsal dinler için önemli bir tehdittir; çünkü kendine has inanç ve ritüelleri oluşturma ihtimaline sahiptir. Çalışmanın din bilimleri literatüründe sürdürülen teknoloji odaklı tartışmalara katkı sağlayacağı umulmaktadır.
