In this study, we have studied the effects of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) application on fracture healing in rats. 50 rats were divided in two groups. in all rats similar fracture was created in the middle two-third of their left femurs. In the first group, HBO was applied two hours a day during 21 days. The second group was control group and no therapy was applied in this group. All rats were sacrified in the 21 st day.
22 rats in the first group and 18 rast in the control group were included in the final evaluation and fracture healing was studied clinically, radiological'y and histological'y in all left femurs. It was found out that fractures in HBO applied group were healed in a short time then the ones in the control group.
Before clinical application. the effect at HBO therapy in fracture healing has to be studied in detail. Same further studies, including mechanical strain tests and the amount and types of ions in the callus, are needed.
Çalışmamızda hiperbarik oksijen (HBO) uygulamasının sıçan femur kırıklarının üzerindeki etkisi araştırıldı. 50 sıçanın sol femurları 2/3 orta kısımdan kırılarak iki ayrı gruba ayrıldı. İlk gruba her seansta 1 saat, günde iki seans olmak üzere toplam 21 gün HBO uygulandı. İkinci grup kontrol grubu olarak kabul edildi ve hiç bir tedavi yapılmadı. 21. gün tüm sıçanlar sakrifiye edilerek kırık bölgeleri incelendi.
İlk grupta 22 sıçan, kontrol grubunda 18 sıçan değerlendirmeye alındı. Sonuçlar klinik. radyolojik ve histolojik muayene metodları ile incelendi. HBO tatbik edilen grupta kırık kaynamasının kontrol grubuna oranla biraz daha hızlandığı tesbit edildi. insanlarda kaynama ile ilgili problemlerin çözümünde HBO tatbik etmek gayesi ile mekanik testlerinde tatbik edilebileceği ve kal dokusundaki iyon miktarı ve çeşitlerinin tesbiti amacı ile yeni çalışmaların yapılması uygundur.
