Book Review: Strategies for the prevention and intervention in peer bullying- a handbook for teachers [Akran zorbalığında önleme ve müdahale stratejileri- öğretmenler için el kitabı]

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to review the book titled 'Strategies for the Prevention and Intervention in Peer Bullying: A Handbook for Teachers'. The book was written by Dr. Gizem Ergin under the editorship of Prof. Dr. Yasemin Ergenekon. The publication and distribution of the book were undertaken by Nobel Academic Publishing. The book was prepared as part of the doctoral dissertation titled 'The Effects of the Peer Bullying Education Package Delivered by Preschool Teachers in Inclusive Settings' supported by Anadolu University Scientific Research Projects (SRP). Its first edition was published in October 2024. The book consists of 125 pages, three chapters, and six units. The book in question has the potential to provide readers with a practical perspective enriched with both theory and application regarding peer bullying. It addresses the conceptual definition of peer bullying, the roles/characteristics of children involved in bullying, the causes of bullying, in-class strategies for prevention and intervention, and practices that can be implemented with children with special needs. The book is considered a practical resource for teachers, teacher candidates, academics, families, and others. Following the review process, forward-looking recommendations have been developed.
