Ultrasonographic Evaluation Ot Deep Cavernosal Arteries Following Intracavernosal Vasoactive Agent İnjection

Abstract

In recent years, many diagnostic methods in the differentiai diagnosis ol impoltence are used to show penile vascular integrity. With this aim, as a pratical, efficient and diagnostic method, papaverineinjection is used with widespread acception. However, ultrasonographic evaluation of penile structures has been found to give much detailed knowledge in this concept and physicians began to apply these two methods in comhined form. 44 out of 88 patients who were evaluated with the complaints of impotence underweni ultrasonographic evaluation of deep cavernosal arteries after papaverine injection in order to observe penile vascular structure and to detect vascular dilatation rate. Following the other diggnostic tests, the patients whom an organic etiology was suspected, test dose of papaverine was injected and the diameters of deep cavernosal arteries were evaluated. 3 of 14 patients who did not havea neurological, hormonal or psychogenic etiology seemed to have vascular pathology after this detailed evaluation. After defining ihe exaci etiological factors, these patients were taken in spesific therapy program.
