Abstract

Bu makale, 1957 yılında Jürgen Thorwald tarafından yayınlanan «Cerrahların Cesturyumu» adlı kitabın bir bölümüdür. Bu kitap, anestezinin icadını ve cerrahi alanının muhteşem devrimini içerir.

Bu bölümde ilk anestezik elementler; yani azot onid, eter ve kloroform, bu gazların kullanıldığı ilk operasyonlar ve «anestezinin mucitleri» arasında yaşanan ilginç mücadele edebi bir anlatımla anlatılmıştır.
