The ethnobotanical information about the use of wild edible plants was collected from 4 different open-airmarkets and 14 villages in the Manyas Balıkesir city during three-year period . Information collected from 115 local informants 64 female and 51 male . As a result of the study, In area; handcrafts 17 taxa , dyestuffs 9 taxa , decoration 26 taxa , animal food 35 taxa , fuel 14 taxa were determined. An additional 19 taxa were recorded as serving widely varied uses in such fields as beekeeping, hunting, roof covering etc.In addition to, in this study, the forms of benefit from plants in the field of handicrafts in different cultural groups living in the these areas were compared
Bu çalışmada, 2009-20011 yılları arasında Manyas Balıkesir yöresinde 4 açık pazar ve 14 köy gezilerek halkın kullandığı faydalı bitkiler hakkındaki bilgiler toplanmıştır. Araştırmalar boyunca yörede 64’ü kadın ve 51’i erkek olmak üzere toplam 115 kişi ile görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Çalışmalar sonucunda; el sanatlarında 17 takson , boyar madde 9 takson , süs bitkisi 26 takson , hayvan yemi 35 takson ve diğer amaçlar için arı çekici, balık yakalama, örtü vb. kullanılan 19 bitki taksonu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca çalışma kapsamında yörede yaşayan farklı kültürel grupların el sanatları alanında bitkilerden faydalanma şekilleri karşılaştırılmıştır
