Breast cancer is the second most common type of cancer around the world and also the most common cancer

among women. It is in the first rank among causes of death due to cancer among women both in developed and

developing countries. Its etiology is multifactorial and many of the major risk factors for breast cancer development

are not easily modifiable, including reproductive and genetic variables. Identification of modifiable factors

and effective screening practices for risk groups may contribute to development of prevention strategies

decreasing breast cancer incidence. The aim of this review is to examine the etiology of breast cancer and risk

factors with current literature.
