THE EFFECT OF EXERCISE TRAINING ON NATURAL KILLER CELL CYTOTOXIC ACTIVITY IN GROWING MICE

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of moderate exercise training on natural killer cell cytotoxic activity(NKCA) in growing mice.

Three week-old male Swiss/Albino mice were randomly assigned to either control or exercise training groups. Twelve week moderate exercise training regimen was a run on a motorized treadmill at 15 m.min -1, 0 % slope, for 30 min. d-1 5 day a week. Following the training program splenic NKCA of mice was assayed by the Natural Anticandidial Index Methhod at three effectontarget (E:T) ratios, respectively 5:1, 1:1, 0.5:1. The results revealed that splenic NKCA was elevated in the exercise group campared to sedentary controls (P<0.05). As a conclusion, exercise training for 12 week in the growing stage in mice improved NKCA.
