EFFECTS OF LOCAL SPORT MASSAGE ON BLOOD LACTATE LEVEL, BLOOD PRESSURE AND HEART RATE AFTER MAXIMAL EXERCISE

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to assess the effects of local sport massage on blood lactate level, blood pressure and heart rate after maximal exercise. A total of 10 male Students in School of physical education (mean age: 22.4 years, mean height: 178.1cm, mean weight: 73.7 kg) were voluntarily participated in to this study. In the first day of study, resting blood lactic acid level, systolic and diastolic blood pressure and heart rate of subjects were measured by standardized laboratory tests.

Second day, all mesaurements were repeated after maximal exercise on beyele ergometer and after 60 minutes passive resting on massage table. Third day, same exercise protocol was applied, after exercise leg massage for 20 minutes was applied to subjects. After this massage all subjects were rested for 40 minutes. After this duration all mesaurements were repeated. Statistical analysis were done by using t- test.

As results of this study, Sport massage applied on active muscles after maximal exercise has more positive effect on systolic blood pressure and heart rate to back them resting statue. (p<0.01). In addition athough there were no significant differences between only passive resting and massage + resting in terms of blood lactic acid levels of subjects, it was assessed that after massage + passive resting blood lactic acid levels of subjects was closer to their resting level.
