THE EVALUATION OF RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SALIVARY CHLORIDE AND PLASMA LACTATE MEASUREMENTS DURING DIFFERENT TYPES OF HIGH INTENSITY EXERCISES

Abstract

In training organisation different anaerobic work loads can be measured and evaluated by plasma lactate (PLa) as an invasive method. The aim of this study is to find an easily applicable and non-invasive method by comparing salivary chloride (SCI) and PLa. 14 male physical education students aged 21.91 +1-1.88 attended to this study with their own consents. The students performed Wingate Protocol and a 400 m sprint within 48 hours. Blood and salivary samples were taken before, 5 and 15 minutes after exercise. Descriptive statistics, Spearman rank correlation and linear regression analysis were used to evaluate the data (alpha-0.05). There was a moderate relation between the 5. and 15. min PLa and SCI values of Wingate Test and 400 m sprint (r=0.45-0.74; p=0.003-0.11). Between the 5. and 15. min TCI and PLa values of the 400 m sprint regression coefficient were significant (F=12.32-14.98, p<0.05). In respect to this results, particularly 5. and 15. min PLa and SCI values have similar results and 5. and 15. Min PLa values in 400 m sprints may be estimated by TCI values. This method has to be retested with a larger subject group and finer methods have to be developed
