THE EFFECT OF RECREATION ACTIVITIES PRIMARY SCHOOL CHILDREN’S ANXIETY LEVELS

Abstract

This study was conducted in order to find out the effect of recreational activities of primary school students on their permanent anxiety and continious anxiety. This study was carried out on the 6th, 7th and 8th year students totaling of 115 girls and 120 boys in the Selcuklu of Konya. 95% of the students was sedentary. Self evaluation test (STAI) form TX-1 and continious anxiety scale evaluation test STAI form TX-2 were applied to the students. While there was no statistical significance (p>0.05) on the permanent anxiety levels before and after the recreational activities, continious anxiety level showed a statistically significant decrease (p<0.05). As a result, recreational activities would be suggested taking into account the decreased continious anxiety level for both girls and boys following recreational activities.
