CHANGES IN PHYSICAL FITNESS LEVEL PARAMETERS OF MALE VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS IN PRESEASONAL, SEASONAL AND POSTSEASONAL PERIODS

Abstract

Technique capacity, anthropometric measurements and physical fitness level are very importantproperties in all team games like volleyball. Such as other team games, in volleyball, preseasonal physical fitness training program is more emphasized than technique. During the competitive season coaches spend more time on technique and tactic (3). Preseasonal. physical fitness training is very important for the team success.

In this study we investigated the effects of four different training periods on the physical fitness level parameters of the male volleyball players. 9 male volleyball players were recruited for this study. Training program was divided in to four different periods. a-Preseasonai preparation period (6 weeks), b-First part of the competitive season (8 weeks), c-HalfTime (4 weeks), d- Second half of the competitive season (8 weeks). The tests which we applied were such as; J - Maximal vertical squat jump and counter movement jump, 2-Maximal oxygen consumption (Astrand-Rhyming Protocol), 3-Body Composition, 4-30 m. sprint test 5-Sit and reach test (Lower extremity and Hamstring Flexibility).

The results showed that, flexibility and vertical jump tests improved in the secondjhird and fourth measurements when compared lo the first measurement (p<0.05). Sprint test results were better in the second and third measurements compared to the first one (p<0.05). Changes of the other parameters were insignificant (p>0.05).

The main result of the present study is that, volleyball players reach to a sufficient, endurance level at the beginning of the season. Flexibility, vertical jumping and 30 m sprint results are not as good as the endurance level but they have been improved during the competitive period.
