EFFECTS OF COMBINED STRENGTH TRAINING ON ELITE FEMALE HANDBALL PLAYERS AGED 18 - 25 YEARS
Abstract
The research is made on elite female handball players in order to define the effect of three different types of trainings,- muscle developing strength training, intramuscular maximal strength graining, and speed strength training spesific for handball-, to tlieir body composition, and motoric specialities. In this research 24 elite female handballer is used; 12 is control group (length, x:165.75 ± 4.57 cm; weight x: 59.73 ± 5.33 kg), 12 is experiment group (length, x: 169.25 ± 5.10, weight, x: 62.5 ± 3.47 kg). The athletes standart field, and laboratory tests, and performance parameters are tested one week before the training program started, and one week after the trainings. The training program contains (totally 32 trainings) in 8 weeks, as 4 days in a week. At the and of this research as it is determined that there are significant increasings in handgrip strength (P < 0.01), leg strength (P < 0.01), throwing strength (P < 0.01), vertical jumping, double feet jumping ( P < 0.01), and significant decreasings in 20 meter sprint (P < 0.01), and body fat percent (P < 0.05). It is observed that combined strength trainings between 18-25 age grouped elite female handballers have positive development in athletic performance.
