OVERTRAINING AND ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE
Abstract
Firstly Overtraining can be defined as loosing of performance caused by physical and physiological fatigue that is the biggest problem for athletes and trainers. The main cause of overtraining is the lack of balance between loading and recovery ratio. The effects of fatigue that is occured after physical exercise can be assess into three topics; insufficient ventilation as a result of short time fatigue, muscular fatigue needs one or two days rest and cronic fatigue caused by nervous system. Also functional changes as a result of overtrainig can be classified as Neuromuscular, Cardiovascular, Metabolic-Hormonal and Kinanthropometric changes.
As a result, it may be effective to prevent athletes from overtraining, trainers should control especially resting heart rate, body weight, loading-resting ratio, diet and social and sports life of athletes.
