COMPARISON OF SOME PHYSIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF TURKISH ALPINE AND NORDIC SKI RACERS

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine and to compare physical and physiological characteristics of Turkish male alpine and nor die ski racers. 26 racers (13 alpine, 13 nor die) volunteered as subjects in this study. Mean age, height and body weight of racers were 20.92 ± 2.10 y ers, 175.69 ±3.90 cm and 67.15 ±6.59 kg for alpine racers, 22.23 ± 2.42 years, 174.23 ± 4.55 cm and 67.08 ± 7.01 kg for nor die racers. Standardized field and labratory tests such as resting heart rate, blood pressure, lung volumes, anaerobic power, max V02, dinamometric measurements, body composition etc. were used to determine the subjects' physical and physiological characteristics. Statistical analyses were done by using Mann Whitney U nonparametric t test SPSS for Windows program. At the end of the study although there were no significant differences in age, height, body weight, body fat %, vertical jump, blood presure, somatotype and lung functions between scores of alpine and nor die racers, there were significant differences in anaerobic power, leg strength, flexibility (P<0.01) and Max. V02 (P<0.05).

ALP VE KUZEY DİSİPLİNİ KAYAKÇILARININ BAZI FİZYOLOJİK ÖZELLİKLERİNİN KARŞILAŞTIRILMASI

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı Türk Kuzey ve Alp Disiplini kayakçılarının fiziksel ve fizyolojik özelliklerinin belirlenip karşılaştırılmasıdır. Çalışmaya, 26 gönüllü erkek kayakçı (13 alp, 13 kuzey disiplini) denek olarak katılmıştır. Deneklerin yaş, boy ve vücut ağırlıkları ortalamaları alp disiplini kayakçılarda 20.92 ± 2.10 yıl, 175.69 ± 3.90 cm ve 67.15 ± 6.59 kg. kuzey disiplini kayakçılarda 22.23 ± 2.42 yıl, 174.23 ± 4.55 cm ve 67.08 ± 7.01 kg olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırmaya katılan deneklerin fiziksel ve fizyolojik özellikleri, istirahat nabzı, kan basıncı, akciğer fonksiyonları, anaerobik güç, maks V02, dinamometrik ölçümler ve vücut kompozisyonu geçerliliği kabul edilmiş saha ve laboratuvar testleri ile belirlendi. İstatistik analiz ise Mann Whitney U nonparametric t test SPSS for Windows programı ile yapılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın sonucunda alp ve kuzey disiplini yarışçılarının yaş, boy, vücut ağırlığı, vücut yağ %'si dikey sıçrama, kan basıncı, somatotip ve akciğer fonksiyonları değerleri arasında anlamlı bir fark bulunmazken; anaerobik güç, bacak kuvveti, esneklik (P<0.01) ve maks V02 (P<0.05) skorları arasında anlamlı fark tespit edilmiştir.
