Futbolda Ev Avantajı mı, Deplasman Dezavantajı mı? COVID-19 Pandemi Süreci Örneği

Öz

Bu çalışmanın amacı, COVID-19 pandemisi öncesinde seyircili olarak oynanan maçlar ile normalleşme sürecinde seyircisiz oynanan maçların ev sahibi ve deplasman takımlarının performansları üzerinde herhangi bir etkisinin olup olmadığını seyirci boyutundan araştırmaktır. Bu çalışmanın örneklemini 2019-2020 sezonunda Almanya “Bundesliga”, İngiltere “Premier Lig”, İtalya “Seria A”, İspanya “La Liga” ve Türkiye “Süper Ligi’nde” mücadele eden 96 profesyonel kulüp oluşturmuş ve araştırmada toplam 1752 maç analiz edilmiştir. Performans kriterleri olarak hem ev sahibi hem de deplasman takımları için maç başına kazandıkları puan ve galibiyet sayıları incelenmiştir. Hakem kararları dolaylı olarak takımların performansları üzerinde etkili olduğu için kazanılan faul, sarı ve kırmızı kart sayıları pandemi öncesine göre incelenmiştir. Elde edilen verilerin frekans ve yüzdelik dağılımları alınmış çıkan sonuçların yüzdesel farkları değerlendirilmiştir. Pandemi öncesi (seyircili) ve sonrası (seyircisiz) oynanan maçlar karşılaştırıldığında ev sahibi takımların performans parametrelerinde herhangi yüzdesel fark bulunmaz iken, deplasman takımlarında yüzdesel olarak bir artış tespit edilmiştir. Bu durumda, seyircili ya da seyircisiz olarak oynanan maçların ev sahibi takımların performansları üzerinde herhangi bir etkisi olmazken, seyircilerin olmayışı deplasman takımlarının performanslarını arttırmış olabileceği söylenebilir. Ayrıca, seyircinin olduğu maçlarda ev sahibi takımlar daha fazla faul kazanıp daha az kart gördükleri, pandemi sonrası ise bu durumun dengelendiği veya deplasman takımlarının daha az kart görüp daha fazla faul kazandığı tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, taraftarların ev sahibi takım üzerine olan etkilerinden daha çok, deplasman takımları üzerinde yaratmış oldukları etkilerin daha önemli olduğu ve hakem kararları üzerinde bir baskı unsuru oluşturabilecekleri tespit edilmiştir.

Home Advantage or Away Disadvantage in Football? COVID-19 Pandemic Process Example

Abstract

The aim of the study was to investigate soccer matches played with fans before the COVID-19 pandemic and soccer matches played without an Fans during the normalization process have any effect on the performances of the home and away teams. The sample of this study consisted of Germany “Bundesliga”, England “Premier League” Italy “Serie A”, Spain “La Liga” and Turkey “Super League” in 2019-2020 season with 96 professional clubs and a total of 1752 matches were analyzed in the research. As performance criteria, points gained per game and number of wins were analyzed for both home and away teams. Referee decisions indirectly affect the performance of the teams. Therefore, the number of fouls, yellow and red cards was examined compared to the pre-pandemic. The frequency and percentage distributions of the obtained data were taken and the percentage differences of the results were evaluated. When the soccer matches played before (with fans) and after (without fans) pandemic are compared there was no percentage difference in the performance parameters of the home teams while a percentage increase was detected in the away teams. In this case, it can be said that the presence or absence of fans has no effect on the performances of the home teams, while the absence of fans may have increased the performance of the away teams. In addition, it was determined that the home teams won more fouls and received fewer cards in matches with the fans. on the other hand without fans in pandemic, this situation was balanced or away teams received fewer cards and won more fouls. As a result, it has been determined that the effects of the fans on the away teams are more important than the effects on the home team and It has been found that they can put pressure on referee decisions.
